Native and lifelong resident of Alabaster, Alabama until September 2022. Married 48 years to Phil Harris, a fire inspector with the Alabaster Fire Department. Phil passed away February 12, 2022, of Mesothelioma. I married Kenneth J. Wilson, long time resident of Columbiana who lost his spouse of 40 years, Connie to cancer as well. We currently reside in Columbiana and take care of his 88-year-old mother.
PROFESSIONAL
Began working in Circuit Clerk's office in Shelby County on October 1, 1972. Worked in all areas of Clerk's office for 26 years. Appointed as Chief Magistrate of Shelby County in 1985 and Deputy Clerk in April 1995. Appointed by Judge D. Al Crowson to position of Circuit Clerk beginning January 19, 1999, and was elected without opposition in 2000. Ran with opposition in 2006 and won with 82% of the vote.
Duties of the Circuit Clerk
- To sign and issue all summons, subpoenas, writs, and other processes.
- To maintain all court records.
- To monitor compliance with court orders.
- To assist in the planning and scheduling of court dockets.
- To act as magistrate for issuance of all felony and misdemeanor Warrants.
- To receive and distribute all money coming into the courts.
- To manage the jury.
- To take sworn statements.
- To act as one of the election officials.
- To act as absentee election manager.
- To issue passports.
